DOVE SHOOTING
Dove hunting takes place out of the Peumayen Lodge.
The hunts are conducted among three large roosting areas and feeding areas nearby approximately twenty to fifty minutes from the lodge. We are constantly scouting to ensure our clients have an excellent hunt.
There are no limits on doves; therefore, it’s conceivable for a hunter to shoot a few thousand doves in a single day. Each hunter will be assigned a “bird boy” who will be attentive to the hunter while in the field. He will ensure that shell pouches are always full, that cold drinks are always available and any other need the hunter may have. The bird boy has a counter to keep track of the downed birds as well as a backpack with a basic first aid kit and a radio to contact the guide should there be a need. The guide will occasionally be visiting all the hunters in the field to ensure that everything is going as planned.
DOVE SPECIES
The most prevalent dove here is known as the Eared Dove. It comes from the same family as the Morning Dove which inhabits the United States. The Eared Dove has a dark patch of feathers on its upper cheeks that bear a resemblance to ears, which explains their name. This bird hatches three to five times a year depending on food availability.

THE HUNTING EXPERIENCE
Our dove hunting program begins early in the morning with a full breakfast that includes fresh fruit, cereals, toast, coffee, and eggs prepared to your liking. During breakfast, your guide/host will meet with you to provide details about the hunting location, the firearms, and the ammunition to be used that day. On the first day, the guide will also deliver a brief safety orientation and assist you with any accessories or gear you may need.
Around 8:00 to 8:30 a.m., your group will head out to the hunting fields. Travel time varies between 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the location.
Upon arrival, our field staff will escort you directly to your shooting station. The morning session typically lasts about three hours. Our head guide will be available to assist or coach you upon request. All our guides are experienced marksmen and can offer personalized tips to help improve your shooting accuracy.
At midday, depending on the distance from the lodge, we may set up a tent in the field and enjoy a traditional Argentine barbecue on site, or return to the lodge for lunch and a well-deserved rest.
When staying in the field, and depending on the season, hammocks will be available after lunch for a short rest before the afternoon shoot.
In the evening, after everyone has finished shooting, we return to the lodge where appetizers and drinks await.
If you have any questions or need additional information not found on our website, feel free to contact us by phone or email. We are happy to tailor your experience based on your group size and the time of year you choose to visit.
We welcome you to the most unforgettable dove hunting experience in Argentina!
